In a tragic incident in Attock’s Kachhari district, two respected lawyers lost their lives on Saturday when an assistant sub-inspector from the elite forces, driven by a personal vendetta, resorted to gunfire. The local police have confirmed the details of this alarming event.
The deceased, former District Bar Attock president Advocate Israr Ahmed and his colleague Advocate Zulfiqar Mirza, were reportedly targeted by ASI Intizar Shah, who had harbored a grudge against Advocate Ahmed over a family court decision that led to his divorce.
“Following a long-standing animosity, ASI Intizar Shah from the Elite Force Attock unit, fatally shot Advocate Malik Israr and his colleague Advocate Zulfiqar Shah,” announced a spokesperson from the Attock police.
The response from law enforcement was swift and decisive. The District Police Officer of Attock, Sardar Ghias Gul Khan, took immediate action, leading to the arrest of the sole suspect. Additionally, the in-charge of the Attock elite force and a Mohrar were detained on charges of negligence.
The incident has prompted further investigations, while the bodies of the victims were transferred to the district headquarters hospital. Meanwhile, Punjab’s Inspector General of Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has called for stringent measures against the suspect, ensuring that justice will be served following the investigation.
A formal complaint has been registered with the authorities as the community and the legal fraternity reel from the impact of this violent act.
