Govt urges disposal of sacrificial remains safely to avoid bird-aircraft collisions

ISLAMABAD: The government issued an awareness message on Sunday through cellular phones, urging the public to ensure the safe disposal of offal and remains of sacrificial animals at designated places to mitigate the risk of bird-aircraft collisions and avoid any untoward incidents in residential areas near airports.

According to the message, “The public is requested to avoid throwing offal in areas around airports because it leads to the gathering of scavengers and birds preying on the animal leftovers that may collide with airplanes and cause a serious tragedy.”

The government emphasized the importance of celebrating Eid-ul-Azha with cleanliness and responsibility by properly disposing of sacrificial animal remains. “These birds can crash into planes and cause significant damage, increasing the risk of irreparable harm to lives and property,” the message stated.

The message appealed to the public to dispose of the remains of sacrificed animals in designated places or bury them to ensure environmental cleanliness. It also advised the public to inform base authorities and municipal administrations if they find any animal carcasses to ensure timely management and avert any risk.
