PML-N committed to alleviating national crises, says Awais Leghari

DG KHAN: Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari stated on Saturday that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is making sincere efforts to steer the country out of crises.

Speaking to journalists during the inauguration of an uplift project, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari emphasised the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards electricity theft.

He affirmed the government’s commitment to providing maximum relief to the public and highlighted that the dualization of the Indus Highway from Dera Ismail Khan to Kashmore is a top priority, with completion expected by 2027.

Leghari underscored the PML-N’s dedication to serving the public and addressing the nation’s issues, focusing on service rather than criticism. He noted that road construction for public welfare has always been a priority for the PML-N.

The dualisation of N-55 Indus Highway, starting in September and expected to be completed by October 2027, will stretch from Dera Ismail Khan through Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur to Kashmore, including over 100 bypasses to ease city traffic congestion.

Leghari highlighted that the dual carriageway construction would boost the economy and provide numerous employment opportunities for the local population.

He also mentioned China’s significant investment in the region, with ongoing surveys in Dera Ghazi Khan aimed at transferring industry, creating new development avenues for educated youth, laborers, and other sectors.

Addressing the power sector, Leghari stated that revolutionary steps were being taken, including a merit-based system with no tolerance for favoritism.

He shared the successful eradication of electricity theft in the challenging Fort Munro area, resulting in a 24-hour power supply, and reiterated the goal of eliminating electricity theft nationwide to provide cheaper electricity to the public.

Leghari pointed out the government’s progress in reducing electricity rates for industries by Rs10.69, which will boost industrial activity and create more job opportunities. He also noted the recent reduction in petrol and diesel prices to provide public relief and mentioned a significant decrease in the inflation rate from 41 percent to 13 percent.

He assured that the government is aware of farmers’ issues and is working to provide maximum relief to the masses.

On the occasion, the foundation stone for the dualisation of the 4-kilometer road from Pul Dat to Shoria in Dera Ghazi (D.G) Khan was laid at a cost of Rs582 million.

The ceremony was attended by district officers, PML-N workers, and a large number of local citizens.
