- Warns against take law into hands, saying illegal use of loudspeakers, and arms display should be banned
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Sunday ordered the imposition of Section-144 to ban throwing animal waste and offal in canals and drains, besides the illegal business of roasting ‘Siri Paey’ on Eidul Adha across the province.
Chairing a special meeting held to review cleanliness arrangements and security plan for Eidul Azha, CM Maryam Nawaz directed the authorities concerned to further activate provincial, divisional, district and tehsil level control rooms for effective implementation of Eid plan.
May Nawaz was briefed that in Lahore, the staff of solid waste management company will go from door to door, and collect animal waste packed in biodegradable bags.” She was apprised that after performing the religious ritual of slaughtering sacrificial animals, the city streets will be washed, limed and sprayed.”
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was also briefed that animal sale points have been established at 294 places across Punjab.” She was informed that drains and manhole would be protected against littering throughout Punjab.
The Punjab CM was also presented with a report on security arrangements at 2600 mosques and 900 ‘Eidgahs’ in the province. She directed to ensure implementation of security SOPs, and said,” Wherever there is fear, increase security to ensure protection of people’s lives and property.”
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also directed to install mist fans and fans in Eidgahs to beat the heat. She said, “Install cameras for surveillance and walk-through gates for checking.” She directed effective inspection of swings and slides for children in parks and other recreational points. “Swings installed in parks should be checked regularly to ensure safety standards.”
The Punjab CM reiterated the resolve that her government will never allow anyone to take law into hands, saying illegal use of loudspeakers and display of weapons should be banned.
CM Maryam Nawaz said, “Foolproof arrangements should be made for the security of cattle markets, bazaars and markets.” “Cattle markets should be cleaned and sprayed; sheds and, clean drinking water should be made available for the visitors”, she directed.
Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information & Culture Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, Provincial Law Minister Soheb Ahmed Bharat, Special Assistants Rashid Nasrullah, Zeeshan Malik and MPA Sania Ashiq attended the meeting.
Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar, Secretaries and other authorities concerned were also present while all commissioners and deputy commissioners attended the meeting via video link.
‘Father’s Day Message’
“Today is a day to recognize invaluable role of fathers in raising and guiding children,” said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz in her message on International Father’s Day.
She added, “We should acknowledge silent sacrifices of every father that are often overlooked.” She highlighted, “Also acknowledge the sacrifices of a father to ensure better future.”
The Chief Minister said that a father is like a shady tree whose shade gets dense for his children in scorching sun.” “There is a need for understanding the importance of compassionate role of father in training and better upbringing of his children.”
CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted, “I am lucky to have a father like Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, proud to be his daughter.” “Every day I leave the house with prayers of my respected father and on my return, I greet him first,” she added.
Death of Four People by in Vehari
On the other hand, Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of four people, choked due to suffocation in a sewer in a suburban village of Vehari. She offered condolences and expressed her heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family, and sought a report from the Multan Commissioner in the matter.
‘Fire Incident in Holy Family Hospital’
Meanwhile, CM Maryam Nawaz sought an immediate report from the Rawalpindi Commissioner while taking notice of an incident of fire in Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi. She directed the Commissioner to supervise rescue activities.
The chief minister also directed to ensure safety of patients’ lives and hospital property.
