Chinese IDCPC minister meets army chief to discuss CPEC progress

RAWALPINDI: Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) Liu Jianchao met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters on Friday.

The meeting focused on topics of mutual interest, such as regional peace and stability, and the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), according to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) release.

General Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to its strategic partnership with China, expressing full support for the successful execution of CPEC, a key component of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Liu Jianchao stated his visit was a continuation of the fruitful discussions between the leaders of the two nations held in China.

He lauded the enduring brotherly relations between China and Pakistan and was pleased with the ongoing success of the CPEC projects, confirming China’s dedication to their timely completion.

Liu also praised Pakistan’s role in maintaining regional peace and stability and appreciated the Pakistan Armed Forces’ efforts in ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals and projects within Pakistan.
