22 terrorists arrested in intel-based operations across Punjab

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested 22 terrorists in 152 intelligence-based operations conducted in several cities across Punjab.

In a statement released on Saturday, a CTD Punjab spokesman said the IBOs were carried out in Lahore, Muzaffargarh, Attock, Nankana Sahib, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Lodhran, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Chakwal, Multan and Faisalabad.

Two terrorists belonging to outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were arrested from Lahore while a dangerous Al-Qaeda operative was nabbed from Attock, the CTD spokesman said.

The CTD personnel also seized explosives, hand grenades, detonators, safety fuse wire 32 feet, IED bomb, prima card, mobile phones and cash from the possession of the terrorists.

The terrorists were identified as Abdullah, Hameedullah, Kamal Khan, Allah Ditta, Nadeem, Manzar, Muazzam, Ramzan, Feroze Khan, Shoaib, Yasir, etc., the CTD officials said.

The terrorists were planning to attack at different places in the province, the officials said, adding they arrested 104 suspects during 743 combing operations this week.

As many as 27,062 people were questioned in combing operations, the officials said.

According to the officials, the CTD is working towards the goal of a safer Punjab and they are determined to root out the scourge of terrorism.

CTD Hyderabad arrests TTP terrorist

Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Hyderabad has arrested a terrorist of a banned organization while conducting an operation in Jamshoro on Saturday.

According to spokesperson of CTD, during operation Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist Zaman alias Adil was arrested.

Spokesperson said that cash and mobile phones were recovered from the arrested terrorist.

The arrested terrorist is trained from Afghanistan and has been involved in terrorist activities, CTD spokesperson said.
