Aseefa Zardari slams budget FY24, highlights public discontent in NA debut

ISLAMABAD: In her inaugural speech in the National Assembly, PPP MNA Aseefa Bhutto Zardari delivered a sharp critique of the Budget 2024, pointing out its inadequacies in addressing the needs of farmers and ordinary citizens amid Pakistan’s worsening economic crisis.

Highlighting escalating inflation and unemployment rates, Aseefa Bhutto—daughter of President Asif Zardari and sister of Bilawal Bhutto—asserted that the budget fails to represent the public interest.

During her speech on Sunday, Aseefa expressed the public’s disappointment with the budget, which fell short of their expectations for relief and support, particularly in sectors critical to everyday livelihoods.

She stressed the urgency of national unity and called for genuine actions to embody tolerance and patience, rather than mere rhetoric.

Aseefa also addressed the severe issues of prolonged load shedding during peak heat periods and the struggles faced by the agricultural sector, including the impact of floods and challenges in wheat imports.

She advocated strongly for policies that would bolster support for farmers and initiate substantial measures to uplift the poorest segments of society.
