ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued a notification urging political party leaders to submit their ‘Consolidated Statement of Accounts’ for the fiscal year 2023-24, which concluded on June 30, by August 29.
The requirement is in line with section 210 of the Elections Act, 2017.
Under section 210, it is mandatory for political parties to provide a detailed annual financial statement, audited by a Chartered Accountant, within sixty days after the fiscal year ends. This statement should include a comprehensive breakdown of the party’s income, expenditures, sources of funds, and an overview of assets and liabilities.
Political parties are required to submit these documents to the ECP, accompanied by an auditor’s report and a declaration from an authorized party official confirming that no prohibited funds were received, as stipulated by the Elections Act, 2017. This procedure is critical to ensure the transparency and accountability of political financing.
Form-D, the specified format for these submissions, is available without charge at the ECP Secretariat in Islamabad, Provincial Election Commission offices across Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, as well as on the ECP’s official website.
Furthermore, party leaders are required to attach an attested copy of the Auditor’s Membership/Certificate from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and the auditor’s latest renewal certificate along with Form-D.
