ATC summons PTI founder, leaders in Kahna police cases

  • Adiala Jail superintendent ordered to ensure presence of accused in court

ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday summoned PTI founder Imran Khan and other accused on July 31, in two cases registered against them at Kahna police station.

The ATC conducted a hearing of two cases registered against the PTI founder and other accused wherein Advocate Mirza Asim and Advocate Talat Rizwan appeared on behalf of the former prime minister.

The ATC judge ordered the Adiala Jail superintendent to ensure the suspects’ appearance in the court and sought a report from the jail superintendent n this regard.

The judge remarked that the suspects will be declared offenders if they fail to appear before the court on July 31.

The former prime minister is currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail.

PTI founder, leader acquitted in Aabpara Police Station case

On the other hand, the District and Sessions Court in the federal court acquitted PTI Founder Imran Khan and several other prominent party leaders in a case registered at the Aabpara police station

Judicial Magistrate Yasir Mehmood delivered the reserved verdict, exonerating the former prime minister along with senior PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Sheikh Rashid, Shehryar Afridi, Faisal Javed, Raja Khurram Nawaz, Ali Nawaz Awan, and Asad Qaiser.

The acquittal marks a notable victory for the PTI leadership, who had been embroiled in the legal battle following the registration of the case.

On June 13, a Islamabad session court acquitted former prime minister Imran Khan and PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Azadi March case.

Judicial Magistrate Malik Muhammad Imran announced the reserved verdict and acquitted PTI founder Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and AML chief Sheikh Rashid.

The court also ordered acquittal of Sadaqat Abbasi and Ali Nawaz Awan from the Azadi March case.

Earlier, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) acquitted former prime minister Imran Khan and PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Cypher case.
