ASTANA: Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday called for building a shared home featuring solidarity and mutual trust, peace and tranquility, prosperity and development, good neighborliness and friendship, as well as fairness and justice.
Xi made the remarks while attending the expanded meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), or SCO+, in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Noting that human civilization is marching forward with rising insecurity, uncertainty and instability, Xi said it is imperative for member states to uphold the Shanghai Spirit and unswervingly follow development paths suited to their national conditions to jointly build a more promising home of the SCO.

Calling for bridging differences and enhancing mutual trust through strategic communication, Xi called on SCO members to strengthen exchanges on governing experience and hold an SCO political party forum at a proper time.
Real security can only be realized when every country is secure, Xi said.
He urged member states to speed up the construction of a universal center and its branches to address security threats and challenges, build an anti-narcotics center, strengthen intelligence sharing and conduct joint operations to safeguard regional security.
As Afghanistan is an indispensable part of regional security, he called for increasing humanitarian support for Afghanistan and encouraging the country to establish a broad-based and inclusive political structure and embark on a path of peace and reconstruction.
A common home of prosperity and development
Xi said China is ready to work with all parties to implement the eight major steps under high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and promote regional cooperation through platforms, such as the demonstration base for agricultural technology exchange and training, the local economic and trade cooperation demonstration area, and the ecology and environment innovation base.
He called for earnest efforts to establish an SCO financing platform and welcomed all parties to use the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System and participate in constructing the international lunar scientific research station.
China is ready to provide no less than 1,000 training opportunities for digital technology in the next three years, he said.
A common home of good-neighborliness, friendship and justice
China is ready to provide quality platforms for countries in the SCO to engage in dialogues among civilizations, Xi said, adding that the country will give full play to the role of non-official organizations to continue to organize events under signature programs such as the Forum on Traditional Medicine, the Forum on People-to-People Friendship, the Youth Campus, and the Youth Development Forum.
Xi said China will host 1,000 young people from countries in the SCO for exchange opportunities in China in the next five years to boost interactions and mutual learning among regional countries and deeper understanding and friendship among peoples.
He urged joint efforts to advocate an equal and orderly multipolar world and universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, practice true multilateralism, and make global governance more just and equitable.
The SCO should make its important contribution to eliminating the deficits in peace, development, security and governance, he said.
