KARACHI: Residents of the port city may finally get some respite from the heat as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast isolated dust thunderstorms with rain in some areas today (Monday).
The much needed rain is expected to hit the metropolis in the afternoon, bringing an end to the persistent heat spell that has gripped the city in recent weeks.
The Met Office has also predicted the mercury to rise as high as 35°C to 37°C. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in the last 24 hours was recorded at 31°C.
Winds blowing from the west and southwest are currently measured at 12 kilometres per hour, with humidity levels at 73%, according to PMD.
Despite the anticipated relief brought by the rain, the Met Office warns that the weather is likely to remain hot and humid in the next 24 hours, coupled with stormy conditions.
Additionally, the meteorology department has indicated that these stormy conditions may persist into tomorrow.
