Amid budget challenges, Sindh appoints 29 parliamentary secretaries

KARACHI: The Sindh government has significantly expanded its cabinet by appointing 29 parliamentary secretaries, bolstering its already large administrative body.

This extensive inclusion spans various departments, equipping each parliamentary secretary with perks including extra allowances, official vehicles, and housing benefits.

Overseen by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, these appointments cover critical areas such as food, transport, health, and education. The expansion has ignited debates regarding the fiscal prudence of such moves in the midst of the economic difficulties the province is experiencing.

Critics have voiced concerns over the resource allocation for these new positions, which include benefits like foreign travel and medical allowances. This has raised questions about the government’s priorities against the backdrop of ongoing financial deficits.

This cabinet enlargement occurs as the provincial government strives to balance its budget while continuing to provide essential services and push forward development projects throughout Sindh.
