Court directs NAB to submit case file in fake bank accounts case against Talpur, others

KARACHI: The Special Banking Court Karachi on Tuesday instructed the investigating officer to present the case file pertaining to the fake bank accounts case, involving Pakistan People’s Party leader Faryal Talpur and others.

During the hearing, Faryal Talpur appeared in court while the investigating officer informed that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had not yet handed over the case file, prompting discussion on the necessity of notifying NAB’s Chairman.

Responding to the NAB investigation officer, the defence lawyer argued against the need for such notification, asserting that it is the investigating officer’s responsibility to procure the case file independently.

During the hearing, the court granted an exemption from appearing to accused Anwar Majeed upon request and heard statements regarding immunity provided to President Asif Ali Zardari.

Later, the court adjourned the proceedings until August 15, with the court directing the investigating officer to ensure submission of the case file before the next hearing.
