PTI denounces appointment of retired judges to poll tribunals

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has termed the signing of a controversial bill by President Asif Ali Zardari, aimed at appointing retired high court judges to poll tribunals, as an attempt to deliver a final blow to the constitution, law, and democracy, as this move was the final phase of a malicious plan to completely exclude people from politics and the electoral process.

PTI spokesperson said that the corrupt, greedy and unscrupulous political parties supported each act that undermined and weakened the constitution and democracy, as the appointments of retired judges to poll tribunals to resolve electoral dispute would deprive the people of democracy and elections altogether.

He said that both the PML-N and PPP had nothing to do with democracy but to safeguard their own wasted interests, as they had dug the grave of democracy and were now trying to bury it, adding that reign of terror was unleashed during the past two years to crush PTI and eliminate PTI Chairman-for-life from political arena.

PTI spokesperson stated that the unlawful detention of Imran Khan and the false flag May 9 operation were staged under a plan to create disillusion among the people regarding the entire election process, as PTI was deprived of electoral symbol bat and compromised administrative officers were tasked to conduct elections.

He stressed that the judiciary and election commission were acting as facilitators for the ruling parties, as Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaquat Chatha exposed the role of Qazi and Sikandar Raja, but their patrons silenced him by violating the constitution and law.

PTI spokesperson said that the constitutional amendment was clearly an attempt to manipulate the election tribunals through appointment of like-minded judges and sabotage the hearings on election pleas against electoral fraud.

He maintained that the law appointing retired judges as tribunals was a disgraceful state formula for making the judges of higher judiciary subservient to criminal ECP, as after this law, there would be no more concept of independent election tribunals to fairly and legitimately decide on the election disputes.

PTI spokesperson stated that the purpose of this conspiracy was to give absolute power to the non-representative and unelected governments of Maryam and Shahbaz, and to destroy the balance of power and the separation of powers in the constitution.

He said that bandits of Sindh and pirates of Jati Umra were chasing each other to commit the most serious crime to shrink the political space for people to please forces of Jungle Raaj.

PTI spokesperson said that the people would not allow this conspiracy to succeed and would resist it with full force, vowing that PTI would cleanse the system of corruption and ensure that the people’s voices are heard.
