Shaheen Afridi had ‘massive fight’ with a coach during England tour: Report

As per a report published in a private news outlet, Pakistan cricket team’s fast bowler Shaheen Afridi had heated arguments with batting coach Mohammad Yousuf during Pakistan’s tour to England, just before the World Cup.

A day after reports from Lahore suggested that coaches and management had complained to the PCB chairman about Shaheen’s attitude during the recent tour, it emerged that Afridi had, in fact, exchanged heated words with Yousuf but later apologized to him.

Multiple sources within the Pakistan cricket team management confirmed to the private news outlet that the issue was a “heat-of-the-moment” incident, which was resolved immediately and required no further reporting.

Recalling the incident, a source told the private news outlet that while Afridi was bowling in the nets at Headingley, Mohammad Yousuf, who was the batting coach on the tour of Ireland and England, pointed out his no-balls.

Upon being called out for repeatedly bowling no-balls, Shaheen became furious, which led to the confrontation.

“Shaheen told Mohammad Yousuf to let him do what he was doing and that Yousuf should mind his own business,” said a source, adding that Yousuf responded that he was a coach and was simply doing his job.

The source added that the argument escalated.

Later on, senior manager Wahab Riaz reprimanded Shaheen Afridi for his attitude. Shaheen accepted his mistake and apologized to the former batting legend.

“This was nothing more than a routine case of a heat-of-the-moment incident, so the chapter was closed then and there,” said the source when asked why it wasn’t reported to the PCB.
