Monsoon alert: Thunderstorms to hit Punjab on Ashura

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has announced that thunderstorms are expected across Punjab on the 8th and 9th of Muharram. According to a PDMA spokesperson, heavy rains are also anticipated in various districts of Punjab tonight.

The PDMA has advised the public to stay away from electric poles and wires and to avoid standing on dilapidated roofs. “Crossing rivers and streams should be avoided as much as possible,” stated the DG of PDMA.

“There is a risk of flooding in the hilly areas of Dera Ghazi Khan,” he added.
