Empowering women for country’s development, progress: Shaza

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has said that empowering women is among top priorities of the government to put the country on the path to development and progress.

While addressing a Webinar titled “Women Shaping the Tech Landscape of Pakistan” organized by the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication on Monday in connection with World Youth Skills Day, she said that all possible steps were being taken to empower women by equipping them with digital skills.

Shaza Fatima said that the government was committed to implement policies and programs that support skills development and empower women at all levels of the tech industry.

“It is our vision to create an inclusive and equitable tech industry where women have equal opportunities to succeed”, she said.

The state minister said it was very important to pave the way for more women to join and lead in the tech sector by addressing key barriers such as safe transportation and workplace inclusivity.

She said with better digital skills women can also work online while sitting at home and added that the Ministry of IT was focused on skills development and capacity building of our youth, especially women.

Shaza Fatima said that joint efforts were needed to create a future where women were not just participants but leaders in the tech landscape of Pakistan.

She said that seventy percent of Pakistan’s population comprises youth which was our asset. She said in the present era of technology, it was extremely important to equip our youth with the latest digital skills to enable them to be employable.

The state minister for IT and Telecommunication said that a skilled workforce would take the country forward.
