ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari received diplomatic credentials from the envoys of Zimbabwe, Tajikistan, Rwanda, Argentina, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Botswana during a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr here on Monday.
The President accepted credentials from the Ambassador-designate of Zimbabwe, Mr. Titus Mehliswa Jonathan Abu-Basutu; Ambassador-designate of Tajikistan, Mr. Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir; High Commissioner-designate of Rwanda, Ms. Harerimana Fatou; Ambassador-designate of Argentina, Mr. Sebastian Sayus; Ambassador-designate of Myanmar, Mr. Wunna Han; Ambassador-designate of Cambodia, Mr. Sok Chea; and Ambassador-designate of Botswana to Pakistan, Dr. Batlang Comma Serema. Following the ceremony, President Zardari held individual meetings with each envoy.
In discussions with the new diplomats, President Zardari highlighted Pakistan’s abundant investment opportunities and urged foreign countries to capitalize on its investment-friendly environment. He encouraged foreign investors to explore potential investments in sectors such as agriculture, livestock, Information Technology, energy, and mining.
President Zardari expressed his desire to enhance cooperation with these countries across various fields, particularly in trade, investment, and cultural exchanges. He emphasized the importance of expanding economic ties and maximizing trade volume with these nations to its fullest potential. He also advocated for increased interactions among the business communities to strengthen economic and trade relations further.
President Zardari congratulated the envoys on their new roles and expressed hope that they would contribute significantly to improving mutually beneficial cooperation between their countries and Pakistan. Upon their arrival at Aiwan-e-Sadr, the envoys were also honored with a guard of honor by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
