ISLAMABAD: In a robust nationwide crackdown, Pakistan’s security forces have conducted extensive anti-drug operations, resulting in significant seizures of narcotics and numerous arrests.
Since September 2023, the operations have led to the confiscation of 1,043 metric tons of various drugs and the arrest of 1,612 suspected drug dealers.
The seizures include 3.52 metric tons of heroin, 45.18 metric tons of hashish, 3.65 metric tons of methamphetamine, 8.55 metric tons of opium, and 982 metric tons of other narcotics substances.
From June 30 to July 7 alone, substantial quantities of drugs were confiscated across several regions: 1,094 kg in Balochistan, 133 kg in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5 kg in Gilgit-Baltistan, 2 kg in Punjab, and 73 kg in Sindh.
This intensified operation, initiated by the government and military leadership, aims to combat drug addiction in Pakistan. The relevant agencies are committed to continuing their efforts to eradicate narcotics from the country entirely.
