Karachi’s BRT lines on break during Muharram processions

KARACHI: Karachi’s Green and Orange BRT lines will be temporarily suspended during the 8th, 9th, and 10th of Muharram to enhance security measures, with services set to resume on July 18.

Additionally, the Peoples Bus Service has also announced a suspension of its operations on specific routes during the 9th and 10th of Muharram.

In related developments, Karachi’s traffic police have released a comprehensive traffic management plan to accommodate the processions scheduled for these dates. According to the plan, on the 8th of Muharram, a procession will commence at Nishtar Park and conclude at the Hussainian Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.

Significant road closures include Muhammad Ali (MA) Jinnah Road, which will be shut from Gurumandir to Tower. The procession will pass through several major roads and landmarks before reaching its final destination.

On the 9th of Muharram, another procession will start from Martin Road Imambargah, Liaquatabad at 9 AM and will proceed to Nishtar Park for a Majlis at noon. It will then continue towards Hussainian Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar, traversing multiple key routes similar to the previous day’s procession.
