‘Lot of people have put my grandpa through hell’: Trump’s granddaughter speaks at RNC

Former President Donald Trump’s eldest granddaughter, Kai Trump, made a touching appearance on the Republican National Convention (RNC) stage on Wednesday night, sharing a heartfelt testament to her grandfather.

“To me, he’s just a normal grandpa,” she said. “He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren’t looking. He always wants to know how we’re doing in school.”

Throughout her speech, Kai’s pride in her grandfather was evident. This appearance added to the list of individuals, especially women, who have offered viewers a glimpse into the more personal side of the former president.

“Even amidst his legal battles, he always asks me how I’m doing,” Kai continued. “He encourages me to push myself to be the most successful person I can be. He sets the bar pretty high, but who knows, maybe one day I’ll catch him.”

This marked a significant debut for the next generation of Trumps. Introduced by her father, Donald Trump Jr., it was her “first time ever on a stage” and “first time ever giving a speech.”

Who is Kai Trump?

Kai, the 17-year-old daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife Vanessa Trump, is an avid golfer. She recently posted a photo on Instagram standing beside her grandfather after winning a tournament at Trump International Palm Beach golf course. Though not yet old enough to vote, she has shown strong support for her grandfather.

In a social media post following an assassination attempt on Trump, she shared a photo of a bloodied Trump raising his fist, writing, “We love you Grandpa. Never stop fighting!”

Kai Trump’s Political Debut

During her speech at the RNC in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Kai highlighted her close relationship with her grandfather. “He calls me during the middle of the school day to ask about my golf game and tells me all about his,” she said. “But then I have to remind him that I’m in school and I’ll have to call him back later.”

Kai also shared insights about their golf games. “When we play golf together, if I’m not on his team, he tries to get inside my head, but I remind him that I’m a Trump too.”

She addressed the audience about her fears following the assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. “On Saturday, I was shocked when I heard he had been shot, and I just wanted to know if he was okay. It was heartbreaking that someone would do that to another person. A lot of people have put my grandpa through hell, and he’s still standing.”

Her heartfelt speech culminated in a show of unwavering support, echoing the sentiments of many family members who have taken active roles in Trump’s political life.
