PML-N loses key figure Kirmani over leadership and governance issues

ISLAMABAD: Former political secretary to ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Dr. Syed Asif Kirmani on Sunday announced his departure from the PML-N.

In a statement released on Saturday, Kirmani expressed his disengagement from the political activities of the PML-N, citing concerns over the governance issues leading to inflated power bills and general inflation.

“Nawaz Sharif Sahib! All is not well,” Kirmani stated, highlighting the distress caused by the current economic conditions.

He did not indicate a move to another party but mentioned that a detailed statement regarding his decision would follow soon.

Appointed as the political secretary by Nawaz in 2013, Kirmani was a key figure in the PML-N’s election campaign and a close associate of the former premier.

His departure marks another significant exit from the party, following disagreements over the leadership’s political style and the decision to form a government after the contested February 8 elections.
