On Monday, Islamabad Police detained Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan and Information Secretary Raoof Hasan in the federal capital, according to party leader Shibli Faraz.
Following the confirmation of their detention, the opposition party criticized the law enforcement agencies, accusing them of acting unlawfully.
In a statement on X, PTI expressed their outrage: “It’s absolutely shameful how Islamabad Police continues to completely mock and disregard every law in this country. Law of the jungle is reigning over Pakistan!”
PTI also reported that police had seized computers and other items from the party secretariat during the operation.
Contradicting PTI’s claims, sources within Islamabad Police stated that Raoof Hasan was only detained, not arrested, and denied that Gohar Khan was taken into custody.
In response to the detentions, PTI organized a demonstration in Lahore, demanding the release of its leaders and workers. The protest, led by Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmad Khan Bhacher, saw participation from the PTI lawyers’ wing and numerous supporters.
