Khalilur Rehman Qamar breaks silence, reveals details of recent abduction and torture

Renowned Pakistani scriptwriter Khalilur Rehman Qamar was abducted and robbed in Lahore on 15th of July 2024, and reported the case to the police on 21st of July after which an FIR was registered.

Details reveal that a woman named Amna contacted Qamar and invited him to her home under the guise of discussing a drama project. Upon his arrival, armed men kidnapped him and carried out the robbery.

Speaking at a press conference held today (Monday) in Lahore along with Punjab Police DIG Investigation Imran Kishwar, Qamar explained that he usually conducts his business at night time, whether it be a male of female client.

“The meeting time was 4:40 AM”, Qamar added.

“My doctor has also advised me to stay out sunlight for 5 years due to a previous medical condition”, Qamar added.

As per Qamar, as soon as he entered the location in Bahria Town Lahore where the “meeting”, armed men seized him and blindfolded him. One of them took his ATM card and withdrew Rs 270,000.

They later took him in their car and would demand Rs 1 crore for his release which Qamar denied to give.

According to DIG Kishwar an organised gang carried out the abduction and torture. Three females, namely, Amna Arooj, Shumaila Bibi and Mariam Shehzadi are part of the gang. All three have been arrested.

Additionally 10 men are also under arrest for their part in the crime.

Punjab Police further explained that ammunition including AK-47s, SMGs and pistols were recovered.

“Three wireless sets that should only be in possession of Police were also found at time of arrest”, DIG Kishwar explained.

Furthermore, the gang has been operational for more than two years and has carried our similar kidnappings for ransom. They operate our of Nankana Sahab, the Punjab Police revealed, which where Khaliurehman Qamar was dropped off by the gang.

“Most members of the gang are drug addicts and use alcohol”, DIG Kishwar added.

Punjab police encouraged other victims to come out and become part of the investigation.
