The Met Department has forecasted warm and humid weather in and around Islamabad, with a possibility of rain in a few places today.
The forecast indicates that various regions across the country may experience rain and thunderstorms today, impacting the daily activities and emergency preparedness in these areas.
Islamabad: Possibility of rain in a few places.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Rain expected in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Buner, Malakand, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Haripur, Khyber, Peshawar, and Kohat.
Punjab: Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sargodha, Jhang, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, Kasur, and Okara are likely to experience rain.
Balochistan: Lasbela, Awaran, Khuzdar, Zhob, and Barkhan may see rain with strong winds.
Sindh: Thunderstorms expected in Umarkot, Tharparkar, Mithi, Sanghar, Karachi, and Thatta.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan: Partly cloudy weather with rain likely at a few places.
Lahore weather
In Lahore, the recent rain did not significantly alter the weather conditions, but increased the level of humidity. However, it caused several LESCO feeders to trip, leading to power outages in various parts of the city, including Green Town, Garden Town, and Kot Lakhpat.
The LESCO transmission system was affected, and efforts are underway to restore the tripped feeders. All organizations are on alert to implement the rain emergency plan effectively.
The Met Office has forecast rain for today, tomorrow and the day after.
Karachi weather
Karachi continues to experience intense heat and humidity, with the current temperature recorded at 31 degrees Celsius and the heat index feeling as high as 39 degrees Celsius. The humidity level stands at 83%, making the weather particularly uncomfortable. The city is expected to see an improvement in weather conditions once the sea breeze resumes in the city from this evening.
According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz, the low pressure in the south was supposed to end two to three days ago, but has not moved from its place. The low pressure area is likely to dissipate today and move towards Oman.
This change is anticipated to bring relief to the residents of Karachi. There is also a possibility of light rain with thunder in some parts of the city.
