Heavy showers continue across Pakistan

Intermittent rain showers have continued to drench various regions of Islamabad, with significant downpours recorded in multiple areas.

Shamsabad received the highest rainfall at 48mm, followed by Saidpur with 19mm, Kutchehry with 5mm, and Golra with 3mm. The consistent rainfall has brought a noticeable decrease in heat intensity, with predictions indicating that the rain is likely to continue throughout the day.

In the capital, heavy rain has been reported in sectors such as G-7, Blue Area, Aabpara, and Zero Point, with additional showers in Bari Imam, Embassy Road, Rawal Dam, and Bhara Kahu. The weather has turned pleasant, providing a much-needed respite from the heat.

Gujrat, on the other hand, faced severe challenges as the main highways and streets were submerged after an hour of rain, with water entering homes. Rescue 1122 teams are actively moving citizens to safer locations, as municipal corporation staff struggle to manage the situation. The district administration’s absence and the failure of flood relief camps have exacerbated the situation.

In Pindi Bhattian, heavy rain led to water accumulation in low-lying areas and power outages. Jhelum experienced similar issues with power supply interruptions due to feeder tripping and flooding in low-lying areas such as Bilal Town, Muhammadi Chowk, and Civil Line Road. However, the weather has turned pleasant with showers in Jhelum and its surrounding areas.

Wazirabad and its adjacent areas saw heavy rain with thunder, causing multiple feeders to trip and resulting in widespread power outages. Sialkot also reported intermittent rain, leading to pleasant weather conditions.

According to the Met Office, more rain is expected in Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Khushab, Sheikhupura and Sahiwal.

Bhimber experienced continuous rain since nightfall, affecting areas such as Samahni and Barnala, leading to power suspensions and water entering Barnala Bazar.

Karachi, Thatta, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, and Dadu are also likely to experience rainfall, bringing cooler temperatures and relief from the heat.
