Prince Harry has reportedly abandoned plans to adapt his memoir, “Spare,” into a film.
Released in January 2023, “Spare” set records as the fastest-selling non-fiction book on its first day, largely due to its candid revelations about Harry’s conflicts with the Royal Family and his military experiences in Afghanistan.
According to the Mail, Harry holds exclusive rights to any potential film, television, or stage adaptations of “Spare,” ensuring that no one else can dramatize the book. This move is intended to safeguard the depictions of his late mother, Princess Diana, and his wife, Meghan Markle, aligning with Harry’s personal values.
Although it’s unclear whether a film adaptation was ever in active development, Harry and Meghan continue their collaboration with Netflix under a multi-million-pound deal signed in 2020, following their departure from senior royal duties. They are currently working on two projects for the streaming platform. Harry is producing a show about professional polo, a sport he is passionate about, while Meghan is creating a series that highlights cooking, gardening, entertaining, and building friendships.
