Muzaffargarh landlord arrested for amputating donkey

MUZAFFARGARH: In yet another incident of cruelty and illiteracy, a landlord from Muzaffargarh allegedly inflicted severe harm on a donkey by cutting off its legs as punishment for trespassing into his field, local media sources revealed.

A case has been registered against him, and legal proceedings are underway.

The distressing event unfolded in Jatoi Tehsil, where the landlord took drastic measures against the donkey after it entered his property in search of water. Utilizing a sharp tool, the suspect brutally amputated both legs of the helpless animal, causing significant injury.

Upon receiving a complaint from the donkey’s owner, the police promptly intervened, apprehending the accused landlord.

The Livestock Department has stepped in to provide necessary medical aid to the injured donkey, aiming to alleviate its suffering.

This incident adds to a concerning series of animal cruelty cases that have surfaced across Pakistan recently. Notably, just last month in Rawalpindi, an influential individual mutilated a pregnant female donkey by chopping off its ears for allegedly intruding onto his farm in the Rawat area.

Similarly, in Sindh’s Sanghar region, another landlord inflicted severe harm on a female camel by cutting off one of its legs under similar circumstances.

Law enforcement in Sindh responded swiftly, apprehending five individuals involved in the latter incident and arranging for the injured camel’s transfer to Karachi for urgent medical treatment.

These incidents highlight a disturbing trend of animal abuse, underscoring the need for stringent measures to protect vulnerable animals and ensure accountability for those who commit such egregious acts of cruelty.
