ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army commandos on Wednesday successfully rescued climbers from the Netherlands, Singapore, and Ecuador after they fell ill due to severe weather conditions while attempting to summit K2.
A private news channel reported that the climbers encountered health issues during their expedition, prompting an urgent rescue operation.
The mountaineers expressed deep gratitude to the Pakistan Army for their timely intervention, which included crucial medical aid and ensured their safe evacuation from the perilous environment.
The climbers commended the swift response of Pakistan Army personnel, emphasizing that their lives were saved due to the efficient rescue operation.
“We are grateful to the Pakistan Army for rescuing us in such dire circumstances,” said one of the climbers.
“Unfavorable weather conditions forced us to halt our climb, and we fell ill. The prompt action of the Pakistan Army saved our lives.”
The successful rescue operation underscored the Pakistan Army’s readiness and capability in managing emergency situations in challenging mountainous terrain.
