Punjab CM and German ambassador discuss economic collaboration, security cooperation

LAHORE: The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Alfred Granas, met Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday to reaffirm their commitment to enhancing mutual relations.

During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz commended the swift response of German authorities to the recent terrorist attack on the Pakistani embassy in Germany. The discussions primarily focused on promoting bilateral relations, with a particular emphasis on economic cooperation and technical education.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz acknowledged Germany’s ongoing collaboration and investment in Punjab’s development sectors. Both leaders explored opportunities for further cooperation, including in renewable energy, vocational training, and information technology.

German Ambassador Alfred Granas reiterated his dedication to strengthening ties with Punjab and appreciated the provincial government’s efforts to create a conducive environment for foreign investment. They also agreed to collaborate on technological advancements.

The meeting also addressed potential partnerships in healthcare, education, and other sectors, emphasizing the enhancement of educational and vocational training programs.

Speaking on the recent incident in Germany, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed optimism that the perpetrators would be brought to justice, emphasizing the importance of preventing such incidents in the future.

Senator Pervez Rasheed and other officials were present during the meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the German Ambassador.
