Zardari, Nawaz on verge of making ‘biggest mistake in history’: Fawad Ch

  • Emphasizes whosoever sides with Nawaz, Zardari won’t be able to survive in future politics
  • Says stability in the country not possible without Imran Khan being at the helm

LAHORE: Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Wednesday that President Asif Ali Zardari and former premier Nawaz Sharif were on the wrong side of history, elaborating that both the leaders were on the verge of making the “biggest mistake in history” as they embark on efforts to ban PTI.

“The decision taken by Nawaz and Zardari is a colossal mistake, but they would come to regret it and find themselves unable to face its consequences,” Fawad Ch predicted while talking to the media after his appearance in Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore in a May 9 case registered against him.

He stated that the cabinet, though deferred, deliberated on banning the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, adding that whoever was siding with Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari wouldn’t be able to survive in politics in the future.

Talking about PTI founder Imran Khan, he said the 14-month long illegal incarceration of Imran Khan couldn’t achieve anything for the government as people had voted for his party without the PTI having a party symbol for the polls.

“Everyone saw the PTI was stripped off its iconic bat symbol and the party was forced to contest the elections with multiple electoral symbols, but all these tactics failed as the party won and made gains”, he pointed out.

Fawad Ch warned the government against rampant human rights abuses which may lead to anarchy. “The world is watching everything happening in Pakistan where even court orders are brushed under the carpet,” he cautioned.

Underscoring the need for strengthening the judiciary, the former minister said people should obey court orders.

He also criticised those who were maligning the armed forces from abroad, cautioning that it won’t do them any good.

“The PTI is not spreading digital terrorism, rather anti-Pakistan people are involved in it. We have to bring stability in Pakistan, which isn’t possible without Imran Khan being in the saddle,” he concluded.

He called for the immediate release of PTI Information Secretary Raoof Hasan, emphasising that the world is witnessing human rights violations in Pakistan.

Commenting on the ongoing conflict with the judiciary, the public, and state of the economy, Fawad Ch warned that this is just the beginning and that people will scream in the coming day.
