FIA investigates ETPB official for alleged multi-million rupee bribery scandals

ISLAMABAD: A formal complaint has been lodged with the Director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Islamabad Zone, against Imran Arif Janjua, Deputy Administrator at the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), it surfaced on Thursday.

The complaint accuses Janjua of accepting a bribe of five million rupees in exchange for securing a government job.

Muhammad Shabbir, the complainant, alleges that his nephew, Shehroze Iqbal, was promised a position as Naib Tehsildar through Janjua’s influence. Shabbir claims he paid three million rupees to Janjua, in the presence of witnesses, but the job was never secured.

Additionally, Janjua is accused of further corrupt practices in another instance, where he allegedly demanded nine million rupees for a 30-year lease of ETPB property. This has been corroborated by another complainant, Kamran Khan, who claims to have paid a substantial part of the demanded bribe without receiving the lease.

Shabbir has urged the FIA to initiate criminal proceedings and conduct an inquiry into Janjua’s assets. The complaint, filed on July 22, 2024, demands a thorough investigation and legal action against Janjua, who has denied all allegations.
