Amna Aruj, a suspect in the high-profile kidnapping case involving renowned Pakistani writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar, has had her police custody extended for an additional four days.
This extension follows the conclusion of her initial three-day remand, during which she appeared before the Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore.
Judicial Magistrate Nabeela Amir presided over the hearing, questioning Aruj about her role in the case.
Aruj, who works as a model, denied participating in the kidnapping, stating that she had only invited Qamar to her residence.
During the court session, Aruj admitted to withdrawing Rs287,000 from Qamar’s ATM. She claimed that Hassan Shah, who allegedly kept the funds, handled the money. In light of these admissions and ongoing inquiries, Magistrate Amir decided to prolong Aruj’s detention to allow further investigation into the matter.
Khalilur Rehman Qamar, the acclaimed scriptwriter, previously reported being kidnapped and robbed in Lahore. He accused Aruj of luring him to her home under the pretense of discussing a potential drama project.
He has alleged that upon arrival, he was abducted by armed men and later released after a ransom payment.
According to the FIR, the assailants stole Qamar’s mobile phone, watch, and cash, and withdrew Rs250,000 from his ATM card.
Afterwards, he claimed that they blindfolded and abandoned him in a deserted area before fleeing.
