Madrassa teacher arrested for corporal punishment in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: A video showing a madrassa teacher brutally beating his student has gone viral, igniting widespread outrage on social media.

The incident occurred in the Thikriwala area of Faisalabad, leading to the filing of a first information report (FIR) based on the complaint of the boy’s father, Rashid.

The FIR, lodged under Sections 328A (exposure and abandonment of a child under twelve years by a caregiver) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), alleges that the teacher, Mohammad Rizwan, a cleric at Jamia Ghousia Rizvia, began assaulting his son on July 24 after Zuhr prayers for an unspecified reason.

According to the complaint, two other students, Mohammad Raza and Munawwar, intervened and pleaded with Rizwan to stop the assault, after which he ceased the beating. The father confronted Rizwan about the incident, which reportedly led to further abuse from the teacher.

The father filed the complaint with the police on July 25, following the altercation. The case is now under investigation.
