PM Sharif welcomes Tajikistan’s ambassador, discusses regional connectivity projects

ISLAMABAD: Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for a courtesy visit in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Toir and wished him a successful tenure. Reflecting on his recent visit to Dushanbe, Prime Minister Sharif expressed his appreciation for the warm reception he received and praised the constructive discussions held with President Emomali Rahmon.

Prime Minister Sharif expressed satisfaction with the Memoranda of Understanding and agreements signed during his visit and emphasized the importance of timely implementation and follow-up to further strengthen bilateral relations.

He reiterated his invitation to President Rahmon to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience and expressed anticipation for Tajikistan’s participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad this October.

Ambassador Toir briefed the Prime Minister on several proposals aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including education, agriculture, defense, and connectivity through land and air routes. The Prime Minister instructed relevant ministries to engage with the Tajik Ambassador for further discussions, particularly on regional connectivity projects like CASA-1000.

Ambassador Toir expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sharif for the meeting, conveyed greetings from President Rahmon, and reiterated Tajikistan’s commitment to strengthening its relations with Pakistan.
