PTI activist’s attack on PML-N’s Tahir Anjum was staged: Punjab Police

In an unexpected twist, what initially seemed to be a violent encounter involving stage actor and PML-N member Tahir Anjum in front of the Punjab Assembly has been exposed as a staged event for personal benefit.

Police investigations revealed that the incident, which took place a few days ago, involved PTI activist Aneela Riaz and PML-N’s Cultural Wing President Tahir Anjum, both of whom conspired to create the situation for their individual gains.

The investigation uncovered concrete evidence showing the involvement of both parties in fabricating the scenario. During the probe, mobile phone records confirmed frequent contact between Aneela Riaz and Tahir Anjum.

CCTV footage further substantiated the conspiracy, capturing Aneela arriving at Tahir Anjum’s residence where the two were seen planning the incident. Later, she was spotted arriving at the Punjab Assembly in a rickshaw, which further suggested their collusion.

Police detailed that mobile phone records and CCTV footage conclusively exposed the connection between Riaz and Anjum, unveiling their coordinated effort. According to law enforcement, Aneela Riaz had ambitions for a reserved PTI seat, while Anjum aimed to elevate his position within the PML-N.

Adding to the complexity, before the official case was filed, Tahir Anjum had submitted a statement indicating his willingness to forgive Aneela Riaz, according to the police.

A day earlier, Lahore police arrested the female PTI activist for allegedly assaulting Tahir Anjum outside the Punjab Assembly and tearing his clothes. The law enforcement agency registered a case against Aneela Riaz and her unidentified accomplices based on Tahir Anjum’s complaint following the incident.

The incident unfolded on Wednesday when Anjum was reportedly passing by the hunger strike camp of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) outside the Punjab Assembly, as stated in the FIR.

Police later arrested Aneela Riaz, bringing the staged drama to light.
