Four dead in Chitral ravine crash, 13 in Neelum River jeep plunge

ISLAMABAD: At least four people were killed when a car carrying a family fell into a deep ravine in Lower Chitral on Sunday.

According to Rescue 1122, the van was traveling from Lower Chitral to Upper Chitral when the driver lost control of the vehicle due to heavy rain. The van plunged into a deep ditch on a narrow road, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and the rescue of three others.

Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and transported the bodies of the deceased and the injured to the district headquarters hospital.

In a related incident earlier, at least 13 people, including mostly women and children, were killed and four others injured when a passenger jeep plunged into the icy Neelum River in the upper Neelum Valley.

The accident occurred around 11 am when the jeep skidded off the highway and fell into the river. The deceased included four women and three children.

Upon receiving the report, rescue officials quickly reached the site and commenced a rescue operation. The bodies were moved to a morgue for medico-legal procedures, and the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
