Following a lengthy selection and head hunting process that spilled over into a struggle between multiple decisionmakers, Aitchison College finally has a new principal in Dr S.M. Turab Hussain.
The post became vacant when Mr. Michael A. Thomson resigned as principal in March following a prolonged confrontation with then PML-N-appointed Governor Punjab Baligh Ur Rehman.
Dr Hussain made the cut but a notification in this regard was not being issue by the Governor Punjab’s office owing to political reasons and severe lobbying within the college’s Board of Governor’s (BoG).
That notification was finally issued late last night, a source privy to the matter explained.
Dr. Hussain’s assignment at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) concludes on 31st July. He will join as Principal Aitchison College on 1st August.
