Lahore to receive monsoon rains till August 4

The onset of the monsoon season has brought a mix of relief and challenges to cities across Pakistan. Lahore recently experienced heavy rainfall, which made the weather pleasant but also caused significant disruption to the city’s infrastructure.

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) reported substantial impacts on its transmission system due to the rain, leading to widespread power outages throughout the city.

In many areas of Lahore, the rain resulted in several feet of water accumulation, causing inconvenience to residents. With another monsoon spell on the horizon, the weather forecast predicts cloudy skies and intermittent rain until August 4.

Senior Meteorologist Zahid Hussain confirmed that the rain would persist throughout the week, offering a respite from the heat but also bringing potential logistical challenges.

On Monday morning, light drizzle was observed in various parts of Lahore, with the temperature currently at 28 degrees Celsius and expected to reach a high of 34 degrees Celsius.

In Abbottabad, intermittent rain accompanied by strong winds has made the weather pleasant. The rain is forecasted to continue for the next two days. However, the district administration has issued alerts about potential flooding in canals and advised residents to avoid urban drains and landslide-prone areas.

Gujrat and Attock also saw heavy rainfall, resulting in more pleasant weather. In Islamabad, the rain has reduced the intensity of the heat, making the conditions more bearable.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir has been experiencing continuous rain since last night, causing water levels in rivers and canals to rise. The weather in Muzaffarabad and surrounding areas has become pleasant, with the sky covered in clouds and more rain expected.

As the monsoon rains persist, residents in affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on weather conditions. Authorities are working to address the challenges posed by the heavy rainfall to ensure public safety and well-being.
