A group of right-wing extremists recently staged a sit-in, taking hostage the main route between the federal capital and Rawalpindi. The administration, instead of using its legal authority, succumbed to their pressure tactics and pretended as if nothing was happening. People suffered for days amid what looked like a media blackout. Islamabad happens to be the seat of the government, with the highest offices in the land being there. What were they all doing? There were lots of rumours floating around, adding to the uncertainty that was faced by the commuters and the people at large. There were a lot of questions, but there were no answers. Is there a way out of such conundrums in today’s Pakistan?
