Former BBC TV Presenter charged with possessing indecent images of children

Huw Edwards, a 62-year-old former BBC News presenter, has been formally charged with creating indecent images of children, as reported by a private news outlet on Monday. The Metropolitan Police arrested Edwards last November after discovering six category A indecent images, the most severe classification, on his phone.

Edwards, known as one of the UK’s leading television news anchors, faces accusations of possessing these images between 2020 and 2022. The images were reportedly shared in a WhatsApp chat, totaling 37 indecent images.

He is set to appear in court on Wednesday to address these charges.

Edwards has had a prominent career, previously serving as one of the main presenters on BBC One’s Ten O’Clock News and holding the title of the BBC’s highest-paid news anchor. He also announced Queen Elizabeth’s death to the nation in 2022 and has covered significant events, including elections and royal weddings.
