LAHORE: A German tourist traveling by bicycle was robbed near Lahore Airport on Saturday, according to local police.
The tourist, identified as 27-year-old Berg Florian from Germany, was camping roadside near the airport when he was accosted by armed assailants. The robbers managed to flee with his mobile phone and cash.
SP Cantt reported that the Northern Cantonment police have registered a case following the tourist’s complaint and have initiated an investigation into the incident. DIG Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran has taken notice of the robbery, requesting an immediate report from SP Cantt and issuing directives for the swift apprehension of the suspects.
In a separate but related incident in Okara, police engaged in a shootout with five robbers who had earlier snatched a motorcycle and cash from a local citizen on Girja Road. The confrontation resulted in two robbers, Bilal and Mustafa, being injured and arrested with the stolen motorcycle, cell phones, and arms. Their three accomplices managed to escape. The injured suspects were transported to a hospital, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing robbers.
