Reports indicate that Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, is anticipated to stay in India until the United Kingdom grants her asylum. A private news outlet has shared that India is prepared to offer Hasina comprehensive logistical support, according to information from their correspondent in New Delhi.
Further details from a private news outlet suggest, based on unnamed sources, that Hasina’s safety is being carefully managed by the Indian Air Force and various Indian security agencies, who are relocating her to a protected location.
It is also expected that Hasina will reunite with her daughter, Saima Wazed, who lives in New Delhi and works as the World Health Organisation’s regional director for South-East Asia.
In response to these developments, security at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi’s diplomatic area, Chanakyapuri, has been significantly increased. The area now features additional barricades and a heightened police presence.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a high-level cabinet committee meeting concerning security matters this evening. The meeting, which ended around 8:30pm IST, has not yet released any official details regarding its discussions.
