Ali Zafar, a prominent singer, has pledged a reward of Rs1 million to Arshad Nadeem, the Pakistani javelin thrower who made history by securing a gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.

The announcement was made by Zafar on the social media platform X, where he congratulated Nadeem and revealed his intention to award the sum through his Ali Zafar Foundation. In his message, Zafar emphasized the importance of celebrating national heroes and called on the government and relevant authorities to honor Nadeem with the recognition he deserves. He also urged the establishment of a sports academy in Nadeem’s name, believing that proper support could lead to more such victories for Pakistan. “If our athletes and sportsmen start getting the support they deserve, we can win 10 golds a year,” he remarked in his post.

His stunning performance, which saw him throw the javelin a record-breaking 92.97 meters, has brought immense pride and joy to the nation.

Following his victory, Nadeem expressed his elation, stating, “Today was my day. I was in rhythm and knew I could throw even further.” His win not only secured Pakistan’s first-ever Olympic gold in track and field but also stands as a significant moment for South Asia, showcasing a rare podium finish in this challenging sport.
