Hefty electricity bill drives father of three to suicide in Kasur

KASUR: A poverty-stricken man committed suicide by laying in front of a moving train on Sunday, overwhelmed by a hefty electricity bill.

According to details, 38-year-old Muneer, a resident of Kayani Street in Kot Radha Kishan tehsil, Kasur, was facing severe financial difficulties. The arrival of an electricity bill amounting to Rs10,500 further exacerbated his struggles.

A heated argument occurred between Muneer and his wife over the payment of the bill. Following the argument, Muneer, along with his minor child, went to Kot Radha Kishan railway station.

He left the child near the railway track and then took his own life by laying in front of the Sialkot-bound Allama Iqbal Express.

Muneer, a father of three, was reportedly battling severe poverty, with the hefty electricity bill adding to his miseries and ultimately driving him to suicide.

The body was shifted to the hospital and later handed over to the family after legal formalities.
