Preparations for independence day in full swing nationwide

ISLAMABAD: Preparations for Independence Day celebrations are in full swing across the country, with markets bustling with activity.

Stalls featuring large flags, flag bunting, green and white attire, and various decorative items are attracting crowds. Items for children, including masks, badges, wristbands, ponytails, key chains, bangles, and caps, are also in high demand.

The public’s enthusiasm for celebrating Independence Day is evident, with patriotic citizens eagerly engaging in preparations. Many are purchasing flags for their vehicles and motorbikes, while others are buying national flags to adorn their homes. The demand for small flags and badges is also high, as is the demand for green and white bangles for women and girls.

Shopkeepers reported that this year’s buying spree is largely driven by children’s requests, with even the youngest actively participating in the purchasing of Independence Day items. Vendors also noted that prices for these items are significantly higher this year compared to last.

In addition to the celebrations, the Plant for Pakistan campaign has been launched across the country to mark the 77th Independence Day, aiming to reduce pollution and promote plantation.

The monsoon season, known for being ideal for planting, allows plants to grow quickly and become mighty trees. Trees such as neem, Indian rosewood, and Indian coral tree are considered well-suited to the local environment. The campaign emphasizes not only planting saplings but also ensuring their proper care to guarantee their growth.

Trees will be planted nationwide as part of this initiative to celebrate the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan.
