ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted a fresh spell of monsoon rains across the country, set to begin on Independence Day (Wednesday) and continue through August 18.
According to the weather office, monsoon winds will likely affect the upper and central regions of Pakistan, bringing rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Coastal areas of Sindh are expected to see partly cloudy skies with light rainfall possible during this period.
In Punjab, cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and surrounding regions, are projected to receive rainfall from August 14 to August 18.
Areas such as Murree, Galyat, Chakwal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, and Pakpattan are all likely to experience showers, with strong winds in some locations. Additionally, Kasur, Khushab, and Sargodha may witness thunderstorms and lightning.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also expected to receive rain and thunderstorms during this period, affecting regions such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Bajaur, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan.
Furthermore, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan will experience rainfall from August 15 to 18, according to the PMD.
