MIAN CHANNU: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday made a special trip to Mian Channu to personally honor Arshad Nadeem, who recently made history by winning a gold medal at the Olympics and setting a new record after 118 years.
Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz hugged and congratulated Arshad Nadeem’s mother Ms Razia Parveen on reaching his house in a neighboring village of Mian Channu. Olympian Arshad Nadeem and his family warmly welcomed her on her arrival in their village 101-15L.
Maryam Nawaz sat around with Arshad Nadeem’s mother and exchanged pleasantries. She went inside the house and met Arshad Nadeem’s family and congratulated them on his remarkable victory in the Olympics. She also took photos and selfies with his family.
During her visit to Arshad Nadeem’s residence, Maryam Nawaz congratulated the athlete on his extraordinary achievement and even handed him his gold medal, recognizing his exceptional performance on the world stage.
The CM presented a check worth Rs100 million to Olympian Arshad Nadeem, besides the key of Honda Civic car bearing number “PAK 92.97.”
In addition to this, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also presented a cheque of Rs5 million to his coach Salman Iqbal Butt, as a gesture of appreciation for his role in Nadeem’s success.
On the occasion sharing her thought, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said: ”Arshad Nadeem has brought unprecedented happiness to the nation.”
Olympian Arshad Nadeem and his parents termed the arrival of Chief Minister to their house a great honour.
The Olympian recalled his memorial journey to Olympics memories and shared his efforts with the chief minister.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Special Assistant Zeeshan Malik, MPA Sania Ashiq, Amir Hayat Haraj and Pir Aslam Bodla accompanied the chief minister. The Chief Secretary, ACS South, AIG South, Secretary Sports, Commissioner, RPO, Deputy Commissioner, and other relevant officers were also present.
Later, Punjab Information Minister Aza Bukhari later shared on Twitter that the chief minister had also gifted Arshad Nadeem a car along with a cash prize. Remarkably, the registration number of the car matched the record Nadeem set at the Olympics: PAK 92.97.
Cabinet Approves Chief Minister Roshan Gharana Programme
Meanwhile, Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz chaired 13th meeting of the Provincial Cabinet to decide on important agenda items. The cabinet approved Chief Minister Roshan Gharana Programme, under which solar home solution will be provided to protected consumers up to 100 units across Punjab. On the occasion, the CM said: “In next two months, a huge project is being launched to give relief to public in electricity bills.”
The Provincial Cabinet also approved model house of “Apni Chhat……Apna Ghar” project, under which Rs1.5 million will be given for building house on a plot of up to 5 marles in urban and 10 marles in rural areas. The chief minister directed the authorities concerned not to take monthly installments for at least first three months to facilitate beneficiaries under the scheme.
The Cabinet was apprised that electric buses will run in Punjab after Speedo buses. It approved a project to run electric buses in Lahore, 27 buses will reach by December. A model of electric bus was also presented to the cabinet.
The Cabinet gave approval to establish Punjab Grid Company for direct supply of electricity to industries. It also considered provision of affordable electricity to Industrial Park through direct transmission line from Bhiki, Balloki and Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park.
The Cabinet approved Amendment to Registration Act 1908 for Revenue Services to Overseas Pakistanis in 8 Countries. Madam Chief Minister said,”Land registration and important documents services will be provided to overseas Pakistanis in 8 countries.” She added,”Revenue services will be provided to residents of China, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, UK, USA, Italy, Qatar, Bahrain and Spain.”
The Cabinet also gave approval to Punjab Government’s Advertisement Policy, besides approving Feasibility Study of Tourist Glass Train from Rawalpindi to Murree.
