LAHORE: Lahore’s Organised Crime Unit (OCU) has made significant headway in the murder case of Dr. Shahid Sadiq, a founding member of PTI and owner of a private hospital, with the arrest of two key suspects.
The suspects, identified as Shehryar and Sajjad, were apprehended on charges of being the hired assassins in the high-profile killing.
During their investigation, police uncovered that the assassination was allegedly commissioned by Dr. Shahid’s own son, Qayyum Shahid, who reportedly negotiated a payment of Rs16 million with the suspects to execute his father.
Following leads obtained from Qayyum Shahid, the OCU initially took four individuals into custody, which eventually led them to the primary suspects.
Further probing into the matter disclosed a family connection in the plot, implicating Shehryar’s father, Sajjad, and his uncle, Shahid, in the orchestration of the murder. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation.
The breakthrough in the case came after Taimur, another son of Dr. Shahid, filed a formal complaint, aiding the authorities in tracking down the vehicle used during the crime.
The ongoing investigation aims to unravel more details and motives behind this tragic incident, as the police continue to piece together the events leading to Dr. Shahid Sadiq’s untimely death.
