MULTAN: Mian Javed Latif, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has cast serious doubts on the stability of the current federal government, suggesting that it could collapse at any moment.
While talking with a private TV channel, Latif emphasized that the government lacks a solid majority and is vulnerable to potential destabilizing forces, such as a sudden gust of wind.
Latif’s comments reflect a growing frustration within the ruling party regarding the perceived facilitation of political opponents and the broader political landscape.
Two years ago, Latif and other PML-N members voiced concerns about the facilitation provided to rival parties, although some members of his party remained skeptical at the time.
Latif accused senior figures of being complicit in this facilitation, suggesting that some of these individuals now need to explain their past actions. He also criticized the ongoing consequences of the 2017 decisions, questioning whether future rulings will continue to be influenced by political motivations rather than merit.
Latif argued that the current government was installed as part of a broader arrangement, and claimed that his party is now suffering as a result. He warned that if the party’s interests are not safeguarded, both the state and the political system are at risk.
Additionally, Latif pointed out the silence of Nawaz Sharif amid the political turmoil and the need for a transparent explanation of the facilitation provided to rival parties.
He criticized the selective nature of justice and the perception that the media portrays Pakistani politicians negatively. He called for a fair and unbiased approach to resolving cases, emphasizing that all political disputes should be handled based on merit rather than favoritism.
Latif also highlighted issues with the electoral process, alleging that discrepancies in Forms 45 and 47 demonstrate how the electoral system was manipulated to favor certain parties. He urged for a reevaluation of the electoral practices to restore faith in the democratic process.
